X Anniversary, 2O07
Solo exhibition Linden Gallery, Melbourne, Australia, 2007
X Anniversary was exhibited at Linden, a former Victorian residence turned contemporary gallery in St Kilda. Created to mark ten years since the artist’s arrival in Australia, the installation brings together charcoal drawings and video in a quiet reflection on place, time, and transformation.
The drawings suggest natural formations—birds in flight, drifting dust, the branching of trees. As the eye adjusts, the patterns begin to shift: what first appears elemental is composed of countless human figures, each one rendered with slight variations. From a distance: systems. Up close: fragments. Closer still: marks.
Presented in Linden’s domestic-scale rooms—spaces shaped by both private histories and public intentions—the works sat lightly, inviting slow attention. A companion video, Perpetuum Mobile, introduces duration, motion, and sound. Together, the elements form a loose constellation. Nothing fixed. Nothing final.
