The X Anniversary installation marked ten years of residency in Australia. It reflected on my experience of migration to a new country. Its charcoal drawings explore the natural world through patterns made by insects, birds, trees, and dust. On closer investigation, we discover patterns are composed of individual people (each unique). When we zoom in closer, we realise that the people are abstract charcoal marks themselves. This realisation disrupts the notion of a stable, separate, individual human and in this way, proposes an underlying shared essence to all things.
