Gift of Time
Solo exhibition, Roswell Museum and Art Center, 2011
Presented at the Roswell Museum and Art Center, Gift of Time marked the culmination of Mytych’s year in residence with the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program. The title is drawn from the residency itself—a reference to the sustained period it offers artists to develop new work.
Developed in response to the surrounding desert environment, the installation traces connections between organic and cognitive systems. A moth's flight, an ant's trail, scattered debris—each is treated not as a symbol, but as a structure. These quiet patterns are mirrored in the way thoughts gather, scatter, and return.
Rather than deliver a singular narrative, the work invites slow observation. Relationships form through repetition, proximity, and attention. The desert’s scale and pace aren’t illustrated—they shape the work.
